Ready for Spring Thaw: What to Do Before Floods Strike
Thursday, March 7
2:00 p.m. EDT
Floods are one of the most common hazards across the United States; anywhere it rains, it can flood. While spring brings the promise of warm weather, it also brings an increased flood risk due to a variety of conditions like severe weather, heavy rains and rapid snowmelt.
Don't be caught off guard with spring thaw: get the facts and learn the risks during this flood preparedness webinar. This webinar will feature flood preparedness resources and tips you can share with your communities. The webinar will focus on flood insurance and how encouraging individuals and organizations to buy flood insurance is getting them to take a meaningful step towards being better prepared.
Presenters will provide an overview of flood insurance and how it works, details on where and how to purchase it, why flood insurance is important and what it covers. Speakers will also share general purchasing advice for consumers. In addition, the webinar will offer a demonstration on how to use the free tools available on http://www.floodsmart.gov/ to help individuals, families, businesses, organizations and communities assess flood insurance needs.
