Exercise: Climate Change Adaptation Planning

The Office of Infrastructure Protection (IP), in collaboration with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA), is hosting a tabletop exercise on climate change adaptation planning in Charleston, South Carolina on June 19, 2014.  

Climate-related extreme weather poses numerous risks to critical infrastructure, from severe drought and wildfires in the west to sea-level rise and increasing storm surge in coastal areas.  This discussion-based exercise will bring together Federal, State, and local government officials with private sector owners and operators to develop strategies, build decision support processes, and coordinate stakeholder planning efforts related to climate change preparedness and critical infrastructure security and resilience in the Charleston area. 

Exercise participants include representatives from the Chemical, Communications, Energy, Healthcare and Public Health, and Transportation Systems sectors.
