As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the National Weather Service (NWS) and the Polk County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting a Storm Spotter Class.

Where: Polk County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), 1907 Carpenter Ave., Des Moines, IA (enter on the east side of building)
Who: Open to the public
Cost: Free
Details: Multi-media presentation containing information about severe weather climatology in Iowa, how to identify severe weather in the field, thunderstorm types and threats, how to report severe weather, severe weather spotter networks, safety and more. Instructors are NWS meteorologists.
