Exercise: Linn County Emergency Management

Safeguard Iowa Partnership in collaboration with Linn County Emergency Management Agency and Duane Arnold Power Plant invites businesses and nonprofit organizations to participate in a disaster exercise on November 9, 2011.

The exercise will provide your organization an opportunity to learn more about how emergency management works at the local level as well as learn about how information during a disaster would be shared between public and private partners.

Safeguard Iowa Partnership is a nonprofit organization with the mission to strengthen the capacity of the state to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recovery from disasters through public-private collaboration. In 2008 the Partnership launched the Safeguard Iowa Partnership-Emergency Operations Center (SIP-EOC) liaison program. The SIP-EOC liaison program trains private sector representatives to serve in the county and/or state emergency operation centers during a disaster. As a liaison the two primary roles are: assist with resource management and information sharing.

On November 9^th, the SIP-EOC liaison will be activated to the Linn County Emergency Operations Center. The participating organizations will receive emails from the SIP-EOC liaison with information related to the exercise scenario. This is a great opportunity for your organization to take the information shared and test your internal business continuity plan as well as interact with the SIP-EOC liaison. If you would have questions you will have a point person within the Linn County Emergency Operations Center to ask those questions and receive feedback.

All registered organizations will receive additional information about participating in the exercise.
