Training: Internet Safety Training

The State of Iowa - Information Security Office is offering an internet safety train-the-trainer session October 31, 2011. The training will be conducted by Karen Gale, Victim Specialist with the FBI. There is no charge to attend this session but seating is limited.

Description:

As part of  local, state and national initiatives to provide education, information and raise awareness on internet safety for youth and families, there will be a train-the trainer session utilizing the NetSmartz Workshop presentation. The NetSmartz presentation is a program of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. It is distributed and utilized in order to educate, engage and empower, educators, children and families to help keep them safe while surfing the World Wide Web.

 

This informative presentation will enhance your ability to recognize and avoid potential dangers on the web and build confidence to make safer choices, both online and in the real world. It  will also answer many questions about internet safety, at risk users, social networking sites, identity theft and predatory behaviors. This presentation will be given in a train-the-trainer type setting with time for questions, discussion and audience interactions.
