All-Hazards Communications Unit Leader (COML) Course
Course Description:
This 3-day course is designed to familiarize professionals with the roles and responsibilities of a Communications Unit Leader (COML) under the NIMS/ICS. This course offers facilitated lecture as well as hands-on exercises to explain the processes used to achieve communication operability, interoperability and how to incorporate additional communications solutions.
Audience:
NIMSICS All-Hazards Position-Specific training should be completed by personnel who are regularly assigned to functional, support and/or unit leader positions, or by those persons who desire to seek qualifications in those positions. They should have supervisory and personnel management skills and knowledge of local communications and communications systems. Additionally they must possess knowledge of the local topography, system site locations and knowledge of their local, regional and State Communications Plan/contacts.
Student Enrollment:
1.Register for a FEMA Student Identification (SID) number https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/
2.Complete a FEMA application (form 119-25-1 (you will need your SID number)
3.Submit completed application and prerequisite certificates to Cristie Duric at cristie.duric@iowa.gov
