This four-hour course is designed to enhance the caregiver’s awareness of vulnerability factors associated with senior citizens. Participants will learn how to identify, prepared, and perform a number of support activities that will ensure the safety and security of senior citizens when a natural hazard event occurs. Particular attention is directed toward developing an awareness of the preparedness and response needs of all senior citizens, inclusive of economic, medical, cognitive and mobility determinants.

Target audience for this course includes senior care providers (family members, friends, personal attendants, home health agencies, in-home services, roommates, medical providers), emergency managers, general public.
There are no prerequisites for this course.
This course is being presented by the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC). There will be two simultaneous trainings provided on Oct. 23. You must register on both the HSEMD Training website as well as the NDPTC website. You only need to register for one session via the NDPTC.
